THE MATERIALS~

ALPACA is one of the warmest and most luxurious fibers in the world. It is warmer than wool and finer than cashmere. Alpacas come from the same family as llamas and camels and are a wonderful fiber to work with due to their low environmental impact. These animals are native to the Andes and are energy and water efficient; they have delicate small padded feet that leave the mountainous terrain undamaged. Alpacas have provided vitality and warmth to communities throughout the Andes for over 6,000 years. Their thick coats naturally grown in over forty shades, ranging from black, white, grey to a variety of browns. annie O. boutique works with a women run cooperative who travel to the local markets and hand pick all of the fiber directly from the alpaca herders. All fiber is hand washed, spun and eventually knit or woven into luxuriously soft accessories!

BULLS’S HORN is used to make all of annie O’s belt buckles, clutch handles, cuffs, and other small accents. The crafting of these products directly supports a father/daughter business who live in the slums of Lima. Horn which would normally be disposed of is recycled into these beautiful cuffs and other accessories. annie o. boutique does not support the killing or abuse of any animals when sourcing this natural material.

SHEEP’S WOOL is used to craft the embroidered clutches, handbags and belts. This natural fiber is purchased from small businesses in Central Peru.
